THE ENVIRONMENTAL CHARITY IN THE GLASSHOUSES
Based in two large glasshouses situated in a walled garden next door to the café, the Hammersmith Community Gardens Association (HCGA) is a local environmental charity set up in 1984. It manages four community gardens in Hammersmith and Fulham, and is involved in a range of projects including conservation training schemes, volunteer gardening sessions, health and wellbeing projects, environmental play schemes and environmental education in local schools.
The HCGA promotes environmental sustainability within the borough, and manages its sites to maximise biodiversity and encourage wildlife. It helps local groups to design, plan and manage their green spaces, and runs year-round classes, events and volunteer sessions.
The glasshouses offer a beautiful environment that showcases fruit, vegetable, medicinal herb and flower growing, and can be used by groups as a meeting space or for school trips.
